Abortion20

urteenth Amendments concept of personal liberty and restrictions upon state action, as we feel it is, or, as the District Court determined, in the Ninth Amendments reservation of rights to the people, is broad enough to encompass a womans decision whether or not to terminate her pregnancy. It ends up that Ms. Roe and Sarah Weddington, Roes lawyer, won the case. This changed history. No longer did women have to sneak to alley ways to terminate their pregnancy, no longer did they have to endure the embarrassment of being an unwed mother.A poem by Kennneth Guentert explains letting women choose:Even if I believe the fetus is human- and I do - it exists inside a womans body...here, one human being is wholly contained within another. Rights are in conflict: the right of the unborn child to life against the right of the woman to decide what to do with a part of her body.If a woman aborts her unborn child, some may define that act as murder, but if a woman is prevented from having an abortion by allowing society to take control of her body, she may feel imprisoned and invaded....Pro-choice women have accepted the moral responsibility for what they do with their own bodies, and the creature inside them. One may not like their choice, but they have claimed the moral responsibility for themselves and said they are comfortable with it. It is not healthy to mind someone elses business....
