my tribe learned of the shooting and attacked the whites all across the reservation. I died and my soul drifter above the reservation.Even in his dreams he feels as if he cant succeed in the white mans world.Ultimately the pressure of succeeding in America was just too much for the Indian in Alexies story and Jing-Mei in Tans story. They both come from two completely different backgrounds but with a common goal, to make it big. Each one of them is their peoples chance at success. For Jing-Mei she is the one that is going to become the Child prodigy the one that is going to make them rich. Make all of her mothers dream real about America. For the Indian he is one of the few educated Indians in his tribe. He is the one that is going to become a professional, a doctor even something big. America is only the land of opportunity for some and does not guarantee a wealthy lifestyle. For some it is just a chance to get away from problems they face in their countries or in the Indians case his reservation. Both Jing-Meis mom and the Indians reservation learn that the hard way....
