Muggers, rapists, and murderers are highly less likely to attack a victim if there is any possibility they have a gun. Criminals are scared of guns just as we, the American citizens are, but if they are the only ones with guns, what is going to stop them from committing these acts of injustice more often? (Taking Away Our Freedom 2) A frequently used response to this question would be the authorities of course, because if we have no way to protect ourselves it will be the governments job to do so. One problem with this seemingly simple solution is that, there are not possibly enough authorities to protect every American individual all the time. Thus leaving some of us vulnerable, and unable to protect ourselves.All of what government does exhorts power. The government continues to convince us that we dont know what is best for us. Thus taking more and more of our rights away. Government tells us that they are doing it for the benefit of the people. Yet, all-important people in this country have some kind of protection provided for them and their families. Showing us that it is important to be protected at all times, yet they want to take this precious right away from us, and we are willing and ready to give up our right! Why do we continue to hand our freedom away? Government wants us to, that is why, because they want the power. One example of this is bureaucracies. Unelected people who have tremendous power and control. We the citizens, having no way to rid ourselves of them. If we freely give our right away to protect our family and friends, we give away more than just a right, we give away part of our freedom to choose.
