evened out, is if that person were executed. By no means, should a killer be able to stay alive. To some, the hammurabi rule, is a very effective form of punishment.Not only should the death penalty be considered, it should be enforced when cruel and heinous crimes are committed. Regardless of the moral and financial issues, a person should be put to death for killing someone else. The death penalty helps give the victims family and friends a feeling of closure and security. That is the most common answer given when asked why people believe in the death penalty. Keeping these criminals off of our streets and out of our prisons, will in the long run, help keep our society a safer place. Criminals who feel as though they have the power to take someones life should be shown that life is not a joke. Life is precious and should not to be taken for granted. These acts of violence should be punished and used as future examples. This could be the only form of deterrence for future crimes that warrant the death penalty. By keeping criminals in jail for life, they feel that the ends justify the means. By that, I mean, the murder would take the punishment of sitting in jail for 30 or 40 years, if it meant they could kill that particular person. By having a person executed, there is no way that killing someone is worth your own life. Personally, I know that if the consequences were between life in jail or death, I would want life in jail. I am sure that other people would feel the same way. Therefore, if the death penalty is instituted, criminals will think twice before committing those crimes.In conclusion, I personally believe that the death penalty is a very effective form of punishment. Not only does it deter future crime, but it also prevents convicted criminals from committing crimes again. I feel safe that it is tough to be wrongly but to death because only 12 people have been falsely convicted in 1999 (www.ethics.acusd.edu). ...
