pot right in front of these cops yet the cops did nothing. This is a real effective waste of a perfectly good opportunity for crime prevention. The social view on crime varies from the economic view because instead of focusing on making the punishment more severe to prevent the crime, they focus on changing the environment before and after the crime to deter the crime form happening ever again. Using marijuana as an example, the social views response to this would be to improve the living so people wouldnt have to escape by using drugs. Another social view that would be used after the crime would be counseling. They believe that you can change anyone back into a full functioning member of society and counseling is the way to do that. By putting people that have committed a crime to do with drugs into a rehabilitation program such as counseling, or triad counseling at our school, it makes those people "normal by societies standards so they can go back into the community without the threat of committing that crime again. I believe that if you combine these two ideas, the economic view and the social view, crime will be reduced significantly. If you make the punishments more severe, that takes care of the bunch of people that want to commit the crime but are afraid of getting caught. If you make it mandatory for all people that are arrested and committed of drug related crimes to go into a counseling program afterwards, that takes care of those people who are heavy users and arent afraid of getting caught. By combining these to views, society can a make a compromise that will set an example for those who wish to commit a crime in the future. ...
