Eric and Rob

track runner. Rob had challenged Eric to cross country race. The race was to take place through downtown Portland. As news started to get out about the race more people began to plan their schedules around this event. On race day more than 12,000 people showed up. They were all stretched down the roads and cheering the two runners on. As normal though the race started 1 hour later than planned which meant that the race would be ending in the dark. BANG! The race had finally started but with the looks of it Rob didn't really stand a chance. Eric was flying down the streets without much effort while Rob was putting every ounce of energy he had into keeping up with Eric. After 10 minutes into the race Eric was tired of Rob keeping up so he started sprinting so that he could get Rob off of him. As Eric was getting further ahead Rob was getting slower, but as the two separated so did light and dark. The race was now going to be ran in the dark and the two still had about 4 more miles left. Rob knew that Eric didn't like to run in the dark so he started to give all the he had. Eric was now becoming scared and feeling lost. Eric began to slow down while Rob began to speed up. Soon Rob was right next to Eric again. As the race neared the end the two struggled. Rob struggled with his speed while Eric struggled with he fear. It now came to whoever wanted to race more. Rob ran for all that he was worth and just came out first by just a couple of feet. Rob was now the hero of the race, and it was a lesson well learnt for Eric. They both gained recognition as outstanding athletes and the two could then again hang out. Although Rob had only wanted equality with Eric, people began to put him on a higher pedestal. This isn't what was planned so Rob humbled himself to a lower level to not anger Eric.Summary:The hare was once boasting of his speed before the other animals.
