rt C – The copper and silver half cells were exchanged and the liquid levels were adjusted. The Ecell and polarity were measured and recorded. The half-cell reactions and the equation were written. The Eo was also calculated. Part D- Part D started by mixing in a clean vial, twenty drops of 0.1M zinc sulfate with twenty drops of 6M ammonia. A half-cell was prepared from the solution, a dropper, a wad of cotton, and zinc strip. A cell was constructed from the zinc ammonia half-cell and the silver half-cell. The emf was measured and recorded for the new zinc-silver cell. Part E: A dropper was plugged with cotton and filled about three-fourths of the way with 0.2M potassium chloride. One drop of 0.1M silver nitrate was added and mixed well. A silver wire was inserted and a cell was formed with that half-cell and the silver half-cell whose silver-ion concentration was 0.1M. The emf of the cell and the polarity were recorded. The measured value of Ecell and the known concentration of silver ion in the more concentrated solution were used to calculate the concentration of silver ion in the saturated solution of silver chloride. The value of the solubility product was then calculated. ...
