Low Self Esteem

;d start over so many times, and he often threw them away at the end. His low self-esteem forbade him from asking questions in class because he was afraid of looking stupid in front of his peers. Low self-esteem can do that; it can make someone afraid to even learn.My friend Carrie has been struggling with her low self-esteem since middle school. She said that she often finds herself caught in a cycle. Paranoid that others are thinking badly about her, she accuses them or demands to know what they are thinking. When she does this, the people around her find it hard to deal with, and either ignore her or become angry with her. This reinforces the low self-esteem, turning it into a maze of confusion that is difficult to break away from. Another issue that low self-esteem can ruin is a person’s chance to excel in his or her workplace. The situation at my job is a good example. The other day, my manager announced that at the end of the week he was going to give some people a raise in their salaries. When he didn’t talk to me, I assumed that I wasn’t a good enough worker. My low self-esteem prohibited me from feeling anger towards the situation, even though I clearly deserved a raise. At the end of the week, when my paycheck was significantly increased, I realized that he must have just forgotten to tell me. That was when I understood how low self-esteem could mess up even a person’s chances at work. Having low self-esteem is challenging to deal with and overcome. It is a complex cycle that is hard to escape from, because it so often interferes with actions that people are obligated to perform every day. It is an unwelcome part of the personality that unfortunately is given away on the faces of the many people it effects. ...
