pa's Waltz uses the idea of imagerys in order to convey the theme of the poem which deals with an abusive father. Roethke enforces the ideas in his poem through appealing to the senses. This style of writing leads the reader to better feel the meaning of the poem and, in turn ksympatheze with the son. the son waltzes or battles with the father constantly and still somehow manages to see him as a father figure and still clings to the fathers shirt....
