able with a large group of people, and I love to talk to people about what they or myself are going through. For a while now, I’ve thought that that situation is where I thrive, and a place where I get a lot out of discussion and interaction with others. After reading the chapter on resting, I’ve learned that while fellowship is an important and intricate part of a growing faith, so is a time for just God and I. Times spent in solitude cannot only help my relationship with Christ grow and flourish, but it is a time that I can focus on my own well-being. If I were to constantly try to talk to others and help them with their problems, I would be too busy or stressed to deal with my own issues or struggles. I now realize that to truly grow closer to Christ, I need to focus on my relationship with Him instead of my relationship with others. Finally, the chapter on “This Way to Happiness”, was extremely interesting if only because at some time in our lives, we all strive to be completely happy. For me, most of the time I end up completely disappointed because nothing that I do on my own seems to make me any happier than I began. In life, when unhappy, most people try to fill their lives with things they think may make them happy. This can include, alcohol, drugs, sex, overeating, etc. The chapter first stated that we should try and focus on the fact that “things” cannot make us happy, but certain actions can. Myers then went on to list five steps that one should take to find true happiness in their lives. The steps concentrated on thinking positively, setting realistic expectations, looking at those less fortunate, enjoying the moment, and living beyond self-concern. After looking at the steps, I realized that beyond these points, true happiness can only be found when one is striving to know and follow God. I can make goals for myself and serve others, but unless I am doing it for GodR...
