If the families had listened to the Prince of Verona and made peace, then Mercutio and Tybalt wouldn’t have died. If Romeo and Juliet would have listened to the advice given to them by the Friar then they would not have died so young. The Friar cautioned them about acting hasty and irrational. But instead the star-crossed lovers meet the fate of death. The lack of thinking things through and acting solely on one particular emotion can lead to negative results. In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare shows how impetuous actions combined with the need for lust can lead to a tragic end. It wasn't fate but rather Romeo and Juliet's hasty actions that brought their untimely death. At the very first sight of Juliet, Romeo immediately fell in love with her. He didn't even think about her character, age, or even about if she were already married. If Romeo had taken his time and gotten to know Juliet and thought about what might come of this attraction, the tragic ending to their story could have been avoided.
