You’ll find that I am man enough to shoulder the whole burden.”(995) “Good, then we’ll share the burden, Nora- like husband an wife, the way it ought to be.”(995) Torvald created this false sense of hope inside of Nora. She loved him for the man he proclaimed to be. She thought he would do anything for him. Torvald was more concerned about image and status in town. “I’d gladly work nights and days for you, Nora- endure sorrow and want for your sake. But nobody sacrifices his honor for his love.”(1021) He contradicted himself. He showed his true colors to Nora and only then did she realize that it was all a sham. Everything that she thought he was was a lie. It was Torvald who created the doll’s house. He came up with the pet names; he created the fantasy and their life’s story line.
