Families may have different structures but they are all responsible for providing basic needs. There is also a problem with the mental stability of the mother giving the child up for adoption. After the mother gets over the initial shock of giving her child up she then has to deal with the years of wondering how her child’s well being is with the adoptive parents. Most birth parents can not forget the children they bore as teenagers, and some have banded together to form “search groups” such as Concerned United Birth Parents, Adoption Triangle Ministry, and American Adoption Congress (McKelvey 165). Although these parents may be grieving over there lost child, they should know deep down that they made the right decision to give it up to parents who are more prepared mentally and finanatually to care for the child. I have a sister that my parents adopted when she was only two days old so I know a little about adoption. It has been a godsend for my family and we have absolutely no regrets. My sister will be given the information to find her biological parents when she is eighteen. She has my parent’s full support to find her biological parents if that is what she wishes. I realize that it is hard to give a child up for adoption but if you ask my family and thousands of other families it is in the best interest of the child. Adoptive parents and biological parents are both fully capable of providing all the basic needs. Some people see adoption as a cruel decision an irresponsible parent makes.
