school does not meet the requirements of this agenda, Governor Bush will give the children in that school the option of moving to the public school of their choice, or if they chose, use their federal funding to get that student into a private school or hire a tutor. Governor Bush is in favor of restoring control of the schools to local authorities, making sure that the utmost attention goes into the raising of our youth. Candidate Bush is in favor of raising federal Pell grants over 50% to $5,100 for first year students, and offers an enhanced Pell grant to students whose families are in the lower-income bracket, which tacks an extra $1,000 onto the original $5100. In addition to the afore mentioned, Bush is in favor of raising teacher salaries, creating new federal grants, academic scholarships and vows to make sure every child in America can read by the 3rd grade. Under Bush’s education plan, every child and teen is given an opportunity to excel in his or her studies.Mr. Hickerson’s knowledge of the Bush social security plan is absolutely limited and untrue. Hickerson states “Bush is getting young people to invest in the stock market for retirement. What if the market crashes? Bye bye savings!” This is not totally untrue; Governor Bush’s social security plan does support the partial privatization of social security by allowing participants to invest an optional 2% of their tax payroll into the stock market, but I emphasize the word, optional. No one is forcing the people to commit their entire tax payroll or savings into the stock market; that would be a fool-hearty thing to do. In fact Governor Bush highly opposes the government investing your Social Security funds into the stock market. He thinks it should be something the people decide for themselves.
