In 1960, Elvis speared in numerous musical films, including Flaming Star, Blue Hawaii, Girls! Girls! Girls!, Viva Las Vegas, Roustabout, Frankie and Johnny, and Live a Little. His public appeal faded fast during this period, which left Elvis facing personal difficulties, including a long-term drug dependency during the 1970’s. His death has been officially attributed to heart failure, a likely result of drug overdose (Encyclopedia, CD-ROM).Elvis is known as the “king of rock-and-roll” because of his unique ability to fuse sounds of western music with black rhythm-and-blues. He left a huge impact on the American people, especially women because of his invention of rock-and-roll. I can say that if it wasn’t for Elvis, who knows where rock-and-roll would be today. Another person who has had a major impact on society today is Bill Gates. Gates is one of the founders of Microsoft. He is an American business executive, chairman, and officer of the Microsoft Corporation. He was born in Seattle, Washington and was fascinated by computers by the age of twelve. Gates was involved in various types of programming projects throughout high school. He attended Harvard in 1975 and dropped out in 1977 to go work at Microsoft full-time, pursuing his vision of “a computer on every desk and in every home.” In the early 1980’s, Gates led Microsoft’s evolution from programming languages to a software company, which produced operating systems and applications software, as well as programming tools.
