Laqueur believes that a would be terrorist will sooner or later make their presence felt by setting off one of these nuclear warheads.The other innovation to terrorism will be cyberterrorism. Technology has made this type possible because computers run the world. Biological and chemical weapons are still being manufactured secretly in the Middle East. Every country faces the dangers BC warfare whether they are manufacturing these chemicals or testing them. The quantities in which they are produced the whole world will be effected and not just the target the weapon is meant for.According to Laqueur, the future of terrorism holds many possibilities. As long as there are different types of terrorist such as the "killers" who want the attention, the religious-nationalist who believe the sinful world is coming to an end, and fanatical nationalist who only feel hatred for another group or country terrorism will be a constant. The truly dangerous terrorist are the groups that have access to W.O.M.D and are in a fight that they cannot win, terrorists that have W.O.M.D. and figure that the damage will be enough to get a point across without destroying the entire place, and finally small groups that have W.O.M.D. and have personal problems with a large group or country. These types of terrorists can destroy a country or entire hemisphere without intending to because they do not truly know the strength of the weapon.The New Terrorism(My View)I personally feel this text has its positives and negatives. Laqueur is very informative on the depths at which terrorism runs all over the world. However overall I think that this text is strictly for teaching purposes.I think that Laqueur has certain spots in the text where he tries to lean the reader a certain way in thinking about terrorism.
