The Pueblo revolt of 1680

upplies brought by the spaniards the pueblos where able to survie for the time being. but then the famine of 1670's took a tremendus tool on the population of the pueblos thus creating a collapes of he system that the spaninsh Francisacans has establisshed. The famine was not only limited to that of the spanish and the Pueblos the famine also greatly affected the apache indians. Since the Apaches suffered for food shortages the resorted to a more aggressive raiding parties among the pueblos. Form all these disastes the pueblos then realized that the spainsh offer protection for that of the natural causes nor protect them form their neighboring enemies the Apaches. Another circumstance that made the revolt of 1680 possible was the ability of leadership that Pop was able to show among the pueblos. One of the difficulties with the pueblos uniting against the spaniard was that they were different nations with different languages and costoms thus making it difficult to unify against the spanish. With the help of Pop a Taos pueblo and some runners the pueblos united together even with the languistic differences in order for them to combine forces in order to rid of he spaniard who where now viewed as people with no special power. 1. The secondary differences that caused the revolt was that of religious differences between the pueblo belifes and that of the Catholic Franciscan who implied their religion among the pueblos. When at first the Franciscans tried to convert the pueblos they were being docile because they were able to take the advantages of that the Franciscans offered. The Pueblos absorbed Catholicism because there were more opportunities if they went along with the franciscans. Since the franciscans were able to supply iron implements, draft animals and new types of food the Pueblos simply went along with the fracisans so that they could better their situation.
