Works by questionableAuthors - e.g. Langston Hughes, Malcolm X, Joan Baey, and Ogden Nash. 3. Books by those considered being homosexual authors - Emily Dickinson, Tennessee Williams, Gore Vidal, John Milton, and Hans Christian Anderson. 4. Author category of books they describe as trash. Included here are such titles as Native Son, Catcher in the Rye, and Soul on Ice. (Qtd. Olober 50)What problems adolescents face are all to real and by stopping circulation of these publication is not going to solve the problem as the Gablers think. If anything it would make them discover the problems on their own, and without any kind of story to relate to you leave the person without a direction to shoot for. Without reading about the consequences there would be no deterrent against the very thing the censors are trying to keep away from them. You need to teach these taboo things at an early age, so they know the consequences of their actions, and they do not find out the consequences themselves. By banning these books you take away the way to learn and leave only self-experimentation. Reading an author's work does not influence the child; by far most children distinguish fact from fiction. Fear that "influential" books will turn a person against society and moral values is unfounded. These publications do not influence anyone unless the need is there, and if that need to reject society is there then books did not plant it. It is the parents who did not raise their children right. Blaming books and other entertainment mediums is attacking a symptom of the problem not the root.
