US Census Buerau
US Census Buerau For this Internet assignment, we were to compile data from the U.S. Census Bureau about single-parent holds and then examine that data. The data ranged from the years 1940-1996 and it provide figures for total family households, married couples, male households, and female households. After computing the percentages and examining them, I found that the married couple family household has been on a downward trend since 1950, starting at 88% and dropping to 77%. This trend has a very adverse effect on American society. There are many children growing up today in a single parent household that could use the guidance of both their parents. In a world that is becoming more and more difficult to cope with the break up of the family structure opposes a serious problem. As far as male households are concerned they have lowered and then increased since 1940, but the level has never gone over 5%. Female households on the other hand lowered in percentage from 1940 to1950 but since then the percentage has doubled, from 9% to18%. This is a problem facing all Americans as well; single mothers left by their deadbeat boyfriends is one of the ways that this comes about. There are many government officials that have addressed this problem in the last year and hopefully they will be able to change this unpromising pattern. Bibliography:
