Being so cunning and intelligent allowed Odysseus to be such a tactical person when it came to battle. Odysseus’ reason for being so good at battle is the fact that he was a fearless person and would stop a nothing. Like at the battle of Troy, Helen remembers:Surely I can’t describe or even list them all,The exploits crowding fearless Odysseus’ recordBut what a feat that hero dared and carried offIn the land of Troy where you Achaeans suffered! (270-273)This just proves that Odysseus was born a fearless and intelligent man and that means that it must run in the family.When Odysseus finally plans to kill all the suitors and he knows that they out number him and his son. He first gets his loyal swineherd to remove all weapons and shields that the suitors had without them noticing that they were gone. After leaving Troy instead of going strait home he gets blown off course and is forced to take the long way home. This journey will end up taking ten years but never does Odysseus ever give up hope no matter the situation.
