Winston Churchill

There were many important leaders in World War II. Winston Churchill was one of these men. Many believe he was one of the best Prime Ministers Great Britain has ever had. His life was full of tremendous amounts of success. Winston Churchill was a very well respected man before, during, and after World War II.Winston Churchill was born on November 30, 1874 in Oxford, England. His father was Lord Randolph Churchill. He was neglected in his childhood. Winston Churchill served in Sudan, India in 1899 with the Malakand Field Force. He was captured sometime between late 1899 and early 1900. He escaped captivity, becoming a national hero. In 1900, Winston was elected to Parliament. He retired from Parliament in 1906 as a Liberal. He was President of the Board of Trade from 1908 - 1910. He also served as Secretary of State for Home Affairs. Churchill was a British statesman whose goal was to pursue to interests of liberty. In W.W.I, Churchill was active on many fronts. His roll in W.W.I was controversial; it almost destroyed his career. Winston Churchill developed the Royal Navy. It became the first powerful weapon against Germany. Churchill became a rigorous modernizer of the Royal Navy in 1911. 2 - BroachWinston was Chancellor of the Exchequer in Stanley Baldwin during 1924. It was Churchill's, pen that earned his living, because he was left penniless at age 20 by the death of his father. His work as an author and historian is every bit as remarkable as his contributions to politics and World War II. In the winter of 1922, Churchill became Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Ireland. Churchill began writing books in 1923 about his memories of World War I. His first volume was titled The World Crises.
