In May 1947, Churchill prepared to travel to Paris to receive the Medaille Militaire, a unique honor for a foreign citizen. Churchill continued to work on Volume IV of his World War memoirs. During the summer 0f 1947 Churchill went in for surgery. In the summer of 1963, Winston Churchill announced he would not stand for Parliament at the next election. In Autumn of 1963, he was suffering from circulatory problems, which caused him to spend a large amount of time in bed. On March 4, 1964, Winston Churchill was made a life member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He was entitled to membership only because one of his ancestors served as an officer in the Revolutionary forces.In 1962, during the summer, Churchill faced some pain and discomfort; he fell and broke his leg. Winston Churchill was one of the best Prime Ministers Great Britain ever had, mainly because he got them through the worst war to ever take place without surrendering the country. He was a very important part of the war. If it was not for Churchill, Britain could have lost the war by having to surrender to Germany.
