is spear still had the bloodstains of an animal. DNA testing was done and it was found to have belonged to an early species of buffalo. Interestingly enough, it also still had the fur from the animal imbedded into the wood. Scientists believe that the spear was used for hunting and also for skinning the animal afterwards because of the fur found on the side.From this scientists have come to the conclusion that even though early humans were farmers they were also hunters. They also now know that buffalo did live in this area in earlier days or that they did travel some to where they were able to find buffalo. This is helpful to know because it tells us that they knew where they were going and how to get back to their homes....
