If you have some free time and have always wanted to visit an art gallery, a start is the Art Sacr exposition. Just do not expect high quality art. Running from October twenty-third to December eight-teenth at Les Salles de Ges, the exposition features four artists depicting spirituality and inner self.The first artist in the exposition is Hannah Alpha. Born in Egypt, shes a McGill alumni who uses the minimalism style of painting, which is the art of using simplistic design to create maximum impact. The paintings grab your attention due to their abstractness. However they fail to portray the artists meaning. Her collection, called La danse cosmique (The cosmic dance), is her search to attain a state of supreme serenity, a state where everything is calm, pure, wholesome according to Alpha.I found myself attempting to interpret what the paintings were trying to represent but always came at a loss. The fact that most of them were almost identical to each other except in the variation of color did not help much. Overall, I found Alphas cosmic dance collection uninspiring and to be a poor interpretation of what she is trying to portray.Proceeding to the next area leads to the Georgette Pineault-Plantes collection called Espace dune migration II (Space of a migration II). This Quebecois and alumni of the University of Quebec uses oil and other mixed techniques on cloth and Masonite to implement her abstract style.The collection of around twenty-five paintings had me perplexed. Pineaults paintings were all so very alike that after seeing the first ten, I had seen the whole collection. The paintings basically consisted of squares within squares with the only variation being in the position of the squares and the colors used. And dont expect a very colorful set of paintings here. The artist mostly limited herself to the colors of red, brown, black and maroon, which only added to the monotony of the collection. Perhaps the only way to understan...
