and maybe that it why I dont do it. But the thing that I do admit to is that my choice to not drink only makes it easier to live my life because it is one less thing that I have to worry about, and no one can deny that there are worries with alcohol.Every year college students spend $5.5 billion on alcohol which is more than the money spent on books and food per year. This is amazing to think that someone could have negative effects regarding alcohol, troubles and worries, but then say "well its okay cuz I spend a lot of money on it." A more frightening statistic is that nearly half of all college students are binge drinkers. This means that there are a great deal of people trying to get really drunk consistently and I dont care who you are, that cant be too safe for society. Women in college are drinking more now (35%) than they did ten years ago (10%). The highest proof alcohol purchaseable in the United States is called Everclear at 190 proof or 97% alcohol content. This could kill someone easily. Although beer is the common drink for college students, all too often kids are drinking large quantities of hard alcohol such as whisky, vodka, rum, and tequila. These are used by the majority of college students not to mix nice drinks but to get outrageously drunk with little liquid consumed. This is scary to think about. The point that I am trying to make is that alcohol has negative effects but can still be enjoyed by many................As long as they are over the age limit and drink responsibly. Under aged drinking is not going to go away, and neither is the idea of getting really drunk. But if issues are brought to the attention and embedded constantly in college as well as high schooler's minds, maybe people will think a little before they act. This is all that one person can ask of such a large issue. Maybe people who dont drink like myself will consider regulating alcohol consumption around their possesions and self more carefull...
