he people may wish to explore what is being censored more than if it were not, and subsequently lead to injustice. Another one of Platos ideas that I disagree with is having assigned positions in society. This eliminates the free choice of the citizens, and they will not be as productive doing something that they are forced to do rather than something they choose. I also disagree with him when he says that art is not a respectable occupation. Art increases creativity in both the artist, and the person viewing it. After all philosophy is a form of art. The philosopher takes a creative measure in which he makes an assumption that he must then check against reality. Another point he tries to make that I dispute is that Democracy leads to tyranny. He envisions that the self-governing will insufficiently govern themselves. This goes against the argument he was trying to make for justice. The government he is describing as the best sounds like communism to be.Although I agree with most of what Socrates envisions as the perfect state it does have its flaws. His suggestions were ahead of his time when written, and still seen as progressive today. It is no wonder his philosophy is still studied today....
