gun control9
gun control9 In the United States of America, guns are one of the top causes of unnatural deaths. Therefore, guns must be regulated in this country, so that we as a country can decrease the number of murders caused by gun use. This can happen only if the punishments for illegal actions involving guns are reinforced and there is an increase in security in all public locations. Amending the current second amendment, so that guns should be given only to police and people with a clean record and all guns must be purchased through the Federal Law Enforcement Agencies. When implementing this amendment the reinforcement of punishments for illegal actions involving guns is extremely crucial in helping decrease the number of murders due to guns. It serves as a threat to all gun owners and murderers as well as non-gun owners. Gun owners and murderers will know that they must be careful with what they plan on doing with their gun because they could be locked up in jail for life if they commit a crime and for non-gun owners, they know that if they are even interested in purchasing a gun for any reason, they will have to be careful. Illegal actions involving guns include buying guns for others and the buying and selling of guns illegally. Buying guns for others such as people who are underage or have a bad police record would be an illegal action, which would result in a punishment for both the actual person in need of the gun and the person purchasing it for them. The person purchasing the gun for them would receive the punishment because they have committed an illegal action by purpose most likely. A jury in court would decide whether it was known that they were committing an illegal action. If it were known, the punishment would be a 10-year jail sentence, if it were unknown, the sentence would be a 2-year community service sentence. When a gun is sold and purchased, a certificate of ownership must be published. When a gun is sold and purchased illegally, a certificate of ownership will not be published. For people who do buy and sell guns illegally, the punishment would be a 10-year jail sentence. Threatening people with larger punishments will have a positive affect on the annual number of deaths due to guns. Most importantly, guns should be given to police and people with very clean criminal records. Police are to receive one and only one gun, no matter their position. People who have never had a criminal history may purchase a gun. If they have even the slightest crime on their criminal record, they will not be able to purchase nor own a gun. For those who wish to purchase a gun and are anywhere between the age range of 18 and 30 years old, both, their criminal records as well as high school and college transcripts (if available) will be checked. If the person has had a history with illegal substances, the gun will not be sold and if they purchase the gun and then make an illegal action involving illegal substances, the gun will be revoked from them permanently. A citizen must keep a clean record in order to possess a gun. The final requirement to possess a gun is that it must be purchased through the Federal Law Enforcement Agency, nationwide. This will ensure that all records will be checked before the gun is sold. If the officer who is selling the gun has reasonable doubt as to why not to sell the gun to the person and receives consent of the same viewpoint from two other officers, he does not have to sell it. A court trial may follow by the customer’s request. An officer who sells a gun to a person who does have a criminal record, will immediately lose his job permanently. There is an association which is against gun control. This association is known as the National Rifle Association (NRA). The NRA is very much for guns and encourages sports involving guns to be taught to young children. By teaching this country’s youth that guns are “fun” to play with is increasing the risk factor of future school shootings such as the one in Littleton, Colorado. This is putting criminal ideas in the minds of our country’s innocent little children. It is teaching them wrong rather than right. Several people defending the current second amendment compare the statistics of gun-related deaths to that of motor vehicle accidents or some other completely unrelated topic, which makes no argument whatsoever. For example, one website said that there were 1400 accidental gun-related deaths in the USA and compared it to approximately 35,000 motor vehicle-related deaths. There is no relationship between these two topics. Motor vehicle-related accidents are not always criminal, whereas, guns are. The NRA and people voting in favor of the second amendment have a very weak argument. The Unites States of America needs to put more control on the buying and selling of guns. The best way is to implement this amendment to the Constitution, which is a revision of our supreme law of the land. First by depicting clear-cut punishments for offenders secondly, by restricting gun allowances only to clean record holders and police officers, also by only making the Federal Law Enforcement Agency the single retailer of guns. This will result in an enormous drop in the number of annual crime-related deaths. Most of all, It will make a positive difference for the welfare of the American People. The entire nation needs to put more effort in putting gun-related murders as well as all other murders to a stop. This can only be accomplished if the whole nation can work together. We as a nation need to work to make a better environment for the children of the future.
