hawaii
hawaii Have you ever been to a place that’s absolutely perfect? A place with no room for imperfections? You may have, but chances are, probably not. Unfortunate for you, I have. This past summer, I received the opportunity to spend two weeks in a perfect place. A place often referred to as paradise. A place with great hospitality and picture perfect surroundings among many other things. The perfect place that I’m referring to is Hawaii. Hawaii is a place where perfection is a major part of everyday life. In fact, it is everyday Hawaii is a place where hospitality can still be found. Since, we have entered an age or an era of technological advancements, we have also entered an age of pure ignorance and arrogance. Ignorance has long taken over the actions, attitudes and even views of many people. With good hospitality almost a thing of the past, a simple, “please” and “thank-you,” is virtually unheard of. When was the last time someone held a door open for you? Or, when was the last time someone thanked you for holding the door open for them? Chances are, for the most part, it has probably been a while. Have you tried crossing a busy street recently? It’s like a battle zone isn’t it. You’re risking your life to cross a street on foot. Those maniacs out there will hit you. However, in Hawaii things are totally different. Everyday people like you and I open doors for each other. They even offer to help if they see you struggling with what you’re carrying. If you think having a door held for you is nice. Try having two lanes of traffic stop to a halt, just so you can cross the street. That’s right, in Hawaii, although this isn’t a law, pedestrians have the right of way. Hawaii is also a place where the people are dedicated in keeping it clean. For much of my life, I thought it was normal to have streets lined with trash. It seemed like trash was designed to decay on street corners. How wrong I was. The first thing I realized, aside from the stopping cars, was how clean the streets were. I really admired the cleanliness. I soon realized that if I was to drop my candy wrapper, or if someone were to flick a cigarette on the ground, it would stand out. In fact, it would stand out like Aside from the cleanliness and the hospitality, what I found more intriguing were the sights. Everything you look at is picture perfect. The beaches and the many different monuments are incredible. The bluish-green crystal clear water was something that I had never before seen in my life. The view of the island from the top of Diamond Head was certainly a Kodak moment. It looked as if it should have been pictured in a geography book. (Diamond Head was a military bunker during World War II). The vibrant colors of the many different fish was truly an unbelievable sight. Not to mention, a water temperature of 75 degrees is hard to beat as well. After spending two weeks in Hawaii, I realized, or at least created my own image and definition of perfect. In my mind, Hawaii was and still is the only place that I would ever consider viewing as perfect. I’m not sure whether it was the cleanliness, hospitality, or the sights and surroundings. What ever it was, Hawaii led me to realize and understand a clear definition of pure perfection. Bibliography:
