hawthornes usage of pearl

s Pearls perceptiveness to point out very straight forwardly, her mothers sin of adultery. Pearl has almost a supernatural sense, that comes from her youth and freewill for seeing things as they really are and pointing them out to her mother. Pearl is a living version of her mother's scarlet letter. She is the consequence of sin and an everyday reminder to her through her actions and being. Pearl works on her fathers conscience in the same fashion as she does Hester. Her perceptiveness points out that the letter on her mothers bosom is the same as whatever causes Dimmesdale to continually grasp his chest, and that the only difference is that her mother is forced to bare the mark of shame publicly which makes him feel guilty for his hidden sin, the wrongness of letting it remain hidden and lack of punishment for it. The tantrum that she throws in the forest, and how she washes off the kiss Dimmesdale gives her are also other instances where she causes his mind unrest and helps drive him to his last days and public confession. Pearl is used to create definite unrest in the consciences of her mother and father. Also she helps bring the events of the story to being for the reader by her character. The Scarlet Letter is a myriad of allegorical theories and philosophies. Ranging from Puritanical to Romantic, Nathaniel Hawthorne embodies his ideas to stress his Romantic philosophies through Pearl, and onto Hester, and Dimmesdale throughout all of this.Hawthornes Usage of Pearl ...
