In contrast to the view of Marry Harron, these youths deliberately react against society, through expressing their individualism, because they disagree with the establist cultural norms. Either way you look at it, punk is about being your own person. It featured hair cropped to a fuzz and dyed startling, unnatural colors: often very pale yellow, sometimes red, green, orange or lavender. In clothing, red, black and white were the favorite colors. Also the anti-society reaction of punks manifested itself in political statements represented in song titles like Die for your Government by The Varukers and Politicians by The Casualties. There are many people who believe punk is dead, I personally believe that punk is in the process of being incorporated into mainstream culture but devalues the punk push against the mainstream. There arent quite as many true hardcore punk bands as there were in the past but bands like The Casualties, The Unseen, Antidote, Lower Class Brats, The Virus, and Funeral Dress were all heavily influenced by the punk revolution. Punk, as it was really intended, will never become commercialized and incorporated as a large part of the music scene.
