The French state has played an important part in the developing and directing the economy. The state generously subsidized mining, banks, railroads, and industry, and the government owns many industries like resources. The government had fiver-year economic plants to guide development often times. However to achieve these plans, the state influenced the private sector through investment policies, subsidies, and economic planning. As a result of this mixed system the last thirty-five years have been very positive for France. However while France has prospered not all government officials’ favor the way it has developed. There has been a strong division between the conservatives with their capitalism policies, and those who advocate much greater government control over the economy through socialism. When it comes to the extent to which France is a socialist nation, it is partial. This is also the case with Great Britain.The application of capitalism in Great Britain has been a mixed bag.
