heresy. This heresy denied the deity of Christ. In this view, it was thought that Jesus was not born by a virgin but was the natural born son of Mary and Joseph but selected by the Son of God at His baptism when He was united with the eternal Christ.The third heresy I will mention is the Socianism heresy. This heresy denies the deity of Christ, predestination, original sin and penal substitution ( Dorner Doctrine of Person of Christ p. 245). In this view, it is totally stated that Christ was just a man (his humanity), but it clearly shows that in this view, Christ was nothing more than a human without deity and had no supernatural relationship to God the Father (Vawter This Man Jesus p. 143).All of these heresies: Arianism, Ebionism, and Socianism, are direct representation of the anti- Theanthropic view of the distorted minds of those in their respected church. For the reason of all of these church heresies rising among the people of God, the Chalcedonian Creed was made. The reason for this creed was to bring the humanity and deity (Theanthropic) of Christ together. As Wayne Gruden writes in Systematic Theology he discusses the Council of Chalcedon of (A.D.51) , they came together to form the one true view that there is a oneness in the deity and humanity of Christ. Maggard 5"When the Chalcedonian Definition says that the two natures of Christ occur together 'in one Person and one Subsistence, ' the Greek word translated as 'subsistence is the word hypostasis, "being". Hence forth the Union of Christ's human and divine natures in one person is sometimes called hypostatic union. this phrase simply means the union of Christ's human and divine natures in one being (Gruden Systematic Theology p. 558)".
