Intelligence plays a large part in being wise and proving to others the wisdom that one possesses.No, Socrates is not guilty of corrupting the youth of Athens. But, he is guilty of attempting to open the eyes of the entire population of Athens. That is the only case that can be made for or against Socrates. In the opinion of Meletus this is a bad thing, to bring on new ways of thinking, Meletus and many others were threatened by Socrates new ways to look at the world, and they also did not like how Socrates made them look foolish during the arguments. The only solution that Meletus could come up with was to accuse Socrates of these things.The sad thing is that Meletus and the other accusers were successful in charging Socrates and having him executed. Their ignorance and close-mindedness had one of the greatest minds ever executed. When Socrates was faced with the choice to live, and no longer teach philosophy or to die, he chose death. He would rather die than stop doing what he loved and what he thought he had to do for the world, the god of Delphi, and himself....
