The republic of Plato

n talks about knowledge and belief, and their differences. Socrates states that knowledge is flawless, and cannot be disproved. Belief, on the other hand, can be either true or false; it is not a surety. For example, the belief in God can neither be proven nor disproved, while knowledge of a pencil being on a table can be proven. Socrates then states that knowledge of beauty, as a whole, should be pursued by philosophers. He feels that a philosophers job to is seek what can truly be known and not necessarily be believed. Socrates philosophy of knowledge seems to be what each person searches for. We usually search for the answers to our beliefs, and knowledge is the only answer to beliefs. ...
