Philosophy
Transcendentalist
Transcendentalist Transcendentalists believe in a philosophy that emphasizes the intuitive and spiritual above the empirical and material. In the modern society of America, the approach of certain enlightening ideals linked with a spiritual life can be considered unfathomable. There are many overriding factors that encumber such thinking. Materialism and Capitalism prevails to promote affluent lifestyles, not likely to be given up. Having standards based on simplicity, the inward voice, and the true freedom found within, distances the beliefs of man from those, such as Thoreau and Emerson. An avarice attitude among the general populace corrupts the chance for transcendentalism to enroot its message into society. The philosophy harbors a new, less profligate standard of living, favorable to some. The actual concept of taking the focus away from money and power is not absurd. However the probability for it essentially happening is next to impossible. Bibliography:
