o body knows when they are going to die. God has a metaphorical list of who is going to die along with when and where. You do not have a choice of when and where you are going to die. Even if an individual were going to take his or her own life, God has control of them like a puppet and decides if it is their time to go. Therefore, we must affirm the existence of an independent being, which is absolutely necessary for everything in the universe to function. To prove Gods existence it would be impossible because nothing is capable of existing or not existing without God. God exists because the existence of the universe demands him and all his attributes. Aquinas’ fourth premise argues that there are degrees of excellence in everything that exists in the universe and outside the universe has levels of some form of perfection. This is such in the case of boiling water. When the water is first boiling it is water and in a sense is the lowest level of heat pertaining to water.
