Making Connections
Making Connections The greatest sacrifice one can make is to give up a loved one for something, which can possibly make you lose your life. 'To Lucasta by Richard Lovelace' is a poem, which tells us exactly that. This reminds me of an Indian movie I saw a long time ago. The movie is set in the Indo-Pak war in 1971.War could break out any moment, the mood was tense. A certain soldier who was ranked high in the army was in love with a woman whose family was not happy about their relationships because of religious reasons. In India it is an offense to marry inter-religiously. Finally after two years, they ran away to get married. It was very moving to see them getting together after the long struggle. But this did not last long. The first night of their honeymoon, war broke out. The soldier was called in to fight for his country. He had to do it. It was his country at stake. His wife became like a widow at the first night of their marriage. After an emotional departure, the solider leaves for war. For three years the war continued. The couple was in depression and longed for the war to get over. Finally it ended. The word came to the girl that her husband is coming home and she was in ecstacy. But the return was never to take place. The plane with which he was flying home crashed on the way. The girl remained a widow. A sad story, kind of like what the poem is. Bibliography:
