I have never experienced povertyIn terms of money.I have never been coldFrom lack of shelterNor have I been tiredFrom having nowhere to sleep..new stanza..But I have been hungry.And yet it was not lack of food That made my stomach turn.My hunger comes from Being without truth..new stanza..To say that I have always been well-off,Or that I am taken care of,Is a lie...new stanza..True--I have been able to provideMaterial things for myself,But I have never had the luxuries such asLove, Devotion, and Honesty..new stanza..Those in my life are there for what They think I can and will afford them.They are not there to take care of me--Or to give their true feelings...new stanza..The embrace of a lover -- The trust of a friend --Smiles from passersbyAre all lies..newstanza..Wealth, it seemsHas brought be poverty.What cruel irony in a World like this Where one has everythingExcept for what he wants..new stanza..Many let the want for what they do not haveOverpower that they do have SomethingOr someone...new stanza..Those with FamilyWant money and wealthI know of this "wealth"And it seems to meWhen everything is broken down --The most important thing to rememberIs that money --Material Wealth --Has no smiling face, andNo warm embrace;And that HungerIs the worst hunger of all....
