The aspect of Hinduism that I have chosen to write about is the Upanishads. I found this aspect to be very interesting. I found to it be interesting by not really what they said in the selections, provided in the Roger Eastman text. Instead, I found it to be interesting on how they told a story. If I understand this correctly this is their version of the bible, but instead in the bible it is telling us a message using teaching from Christ or the apostles. They are telling us a conversation, in a story form. I found this to be very helpful in understanding, what the person who is giving the lesson is talking about. I found myself in the position of the student, and I was listening to the teacher tell the story. I also just liked the way that teachings were presented. Although it is a far more serious of a religion it seemed like the teachings were presented to be lighter than the teaching of Christianity. Although there were a lot of things that I did like from reading The Upanishads there were some things that I really though were kind of weird and didn’t really enjoy. A really good example of when I felt this was at the start of page thirty. They go from telling a story to listing off things that you should do and things that you shouldn’t do. It reminded me of our ten commandants but longer and a lot more elaborate. It was really a kind of code that was used to determine who was who in their society. I guess that I really didn’t understand what they were saying in most of the lines and this is the reason that I found it hard to follow, this passage. In conclusion, I really liked reading the Hindu passages. I really felt enlightened by it and I very much enjoyed the way that it was being presented.
