es that the phobia all started from childhood, for example, a woman may have a deep fear of her father. Since these feelings are so threatening to her, she may feel guilty, so she may displace them into some other object. Freud was not the only person to study phobias, others believed that phobias, like other behaviors, are learned. Some phobias may result from classical conditioning; for example, a child wakes up in the middle of the night and thinks his parents have left him. So he walks around the house looking for his parents and finds them, but he is now scared of the dark and scared of someone coming in and taking his or her parents. There are no real treatments for phobias but there are some medications that can help with the onset of anxiety attacks and panic attacks. So if you have a severe phobia that runs your life, you should make an appointment with your doctor to see if he can prescribe any medications to ease your nerves.
