he stage of that specific patient’s illness(Anderson 8). Obviously, schizophrenia is a grave illness that takes control of a person’s mind. Still, the worst part about schizophrenia is the fact that individuals diagnosed with this disease die at a younger age then healthy people. It has been reported that males will die an average of 5.1 years early and females an average of 5.6. Another considerable impact on this rate is that suicide is the number one cause of early death among those diagnosed with schizophrenia. Somewhere between 10 and 15% of schizophrenic patients are reported as to killing themselves(Schizophrenia.com). It is hard to believe that schizophrenia has such an impact on death. Schizophrenia is a disease that may have been around since the beginning of time and will remain in the world until a cure is found. This is why research on schizophrenia continues excessively as of today. Luckily, there are many drugs that can help schizophrenics to the point of hiding the disease altogether. Perhaps soon a drug will be discovered that will wipe out the disease altogether. Until that day, researchers continue and patients struggle to grasp a hold on life. ...
