study The question is do I think Jack is guilty of a Criminal behavior act? The answer to this question in my opinion is no. I do not believe that Jack is a criminal for stealing two peanut butter jars. If all he needed to survive was peanut butter, then there is no harm in that. He did it so he and his family could eat something and not starve to death. They already went to the government for help and they couldn’t really do much for them. He only stole the peanut butter jars for survival. According to Gene Piaget “Atonomy (older stage) is governed by principles and ideals. As a result of that, moral judgments become more individual rather than what the whole group is doing”. Piaget states “Atonomy is governed by principles and ideals. It was ideal for Jack to steal the peanut butter jars. He didn’t steal the things that were expensive. He just stole peanut butter for a good reason! Peanut butter is not expensive. The second part to Piagets theory “moral judgments become more individual rather than what the whole group is doing.” Everyone in the grocery store wasn’t stealing peanut butter to help their family survive because they had enough money to buy their groceries. Jack stole the peanut butter because he loves his family and cares about them a lot. He seems as though he would do anything for them. I’m sure that if Jack had enough money to buy the peanut butter he would have. He and his wife are working to make ends meet. It would be a different story if neither of them were working and just went out to steal peanut butter for the heck of it. Jack only did this until he got his next paycheck. Then he can go and pay for his groceries. He is not a criminal. He is just looking out for his family. The only way I see him being a criminal is if he does this every single day, but he only did it once. Bibliography:
