“Can The Police Shoot To Kill A Fleeing Burglar” I accordingly dissent with the police shooting to kill a fleeing burglar, because if that was the case, then every burglar will be dead for trying to steal something if they are caught by a policeman. So, if a thief tries to steal a pack of gum from a store and gets caught by a cop, does that mean that the thief is risking his life for a pack of gum and will end up dead for that. If that is the case that a cop can shoot a fleeing burglar then everyone from the age 14 and up will end up dead for running away from a cop.What I don’t understand is that, why can’t a policeman run after or drive after a fleeing burglar when he/she is running from the police. The police are given guns for a reason and that is to protect themselves from other people trying to harm them. So, what’s the reason for a policeman to shoot a burglar who is running, and what’s the harm in that during to the policeman. Also, what’s the reason for a policeman to pull out his/her gun just to shoot and kill a fleeing burglar with no weapons being shown by the burglar that can threaten a cop for his/her life. Why would a cop be so ready to shoot a fleeing burglar to kill them, and when a car jacker, or drug dealer run, they want to catch them and put them into jail. I just can’t understand why the police wouldn’t shoot to kill people like them. But for a little burglar they probably think it’s O.K. to shoot to kill a harmless burglar. Police should be more worried about protecting the streets and getting criminals, drug dealers off the city streets instead of worrying about killing a fleeing burglar running from the police to keep from going to jail.If it was alright to kill a fleeing burglar then every burglar would be worried about dying from the hands of a policeman instead of going to jail.
