Hunger

In today’s society, our community hungers for leadership. We as individuals are looking for some one who will step up to the challenge and guide us through the rocky points in life. We have called on such people as presidents to lead us in this great nation, the pope to head our spiritual growth, and our teachers to nurture our minds. It is always human nature, even animal nature, to look for some one to follow for many reasons. 1) We are too scared to lead ourselves 2) We look to those with strong skills that we don’t posses or 3) We haven been given the chance to be a leader.In my own opinion there are people who are destined to be leaders and other who take on the role of a follower. Sadly, the followers by far outnumber the leaders. This can directly draw a parallel to Jesus. He was told by God to be a leader and in his ministry he gained many followers. They came me from miles around just to hear him speak. These people soaked in his word and devoted themselves to him. He, as a leader, gained much strength. We looked upon him in times of need and provided for us with is infinite love.In our desperation for leadership, humans can resort to other alternatives who posses much strength, sometimes things that are not good for us. In light of the lack of leadership people can be drawn to things they think can help. But do more harm than actual good. “People don't eat the sand because they're thirsty. They drink the sand because they don't know the difference.” The American PresidentThis was a quote from a movie I once watched. In the film, Lewis, one of the president’s advisors, says this to him, to call him to lead the county. People in times of shortcomings and desperation do rash things. We depend on people to direct us onto the right path, to make the right choices, and to help us not make those impetuous decisions. We hunger for leadership and will look anywhere for it.
