Religion
homosexuality wrong
homosexuality wrong The topic of homosexuality in religion has many sides. There are those who believe that it is a sin in God’s eyes and according to the Bible, and there are those who believe the God and the Bible are not specific to homosexuals. It is a tough debate based on whether you are a religious person, how you were raised, and where your morals and ethics stand. You cannot truly believe one way without taking into account the other side and have valid proof to back it up. Those who believe that homosexuality is wrong do so by quoting certain phrases from the Bible. For example: Romans 1:24-27; Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural us for what is against nature. Likewise also, the men, leaving the natural use of the woman burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. This quote states that the lust for another man and leaving behind the woman, who is made for man, is a sin and it shall be punished. Those who feel homosexuality is wrong feel that we should “say no” to these sinful desires and choose what is right in the eyes of God. According to them, there are more than a dozen passages in the Bible that state the sinfulness of homosexuality. Also they believe that if you feel homosexuality is acceptable then you don’t believe the entire Bible, just the parts that justify your personal beliefs. Some people say that Satan is to blame for the alternative lifestyle of homosexuality, that you are not created that way. God never created man to be with another man. God created a woman, Eve, out of Adam. God’s will is for every man to have a woman. God has created man out of his own image, and his image is not a homosexual man. According to the Bible, you are this image until you sin, and homosexuality is considered a sin, and therefore homosexuality is wrong because God did not create man for man, but for woman and the purpose of procreation. Any other type of relation is wrong in the eye of God. On the other hand, the Bible also states: I John 4:7-11, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God, and everyone that loveth is born of God and knoweth God. He that loveth not, knoweth not God, for God is love.” The bible tells us that a man cannot serve two masters, for either he will love the one and hate the other. If this is true, you cannot follow God and hate another. If so, you to are a sinner. According to the Bible, God totally hates the sin of homosexuality, but God does not hate you. He only hates your sin. Is it correct then to say that you can agree with God and disagree with the homosexual lifestyle but still love all of God’s children, even those who are gay? If this was true and everyone followed this, we would have no problems with anti-homosexual groups and “gay bashers”. If you are a person who follows the teachings of God, then you cannot hate homosexuals. If you do, then you are, in your own interpretations of the bible, also a sinner. The debate over homosexuality is a great opportunity to raise the question of how we interpret the Bible. The real issue cannot be as simple as “Is Homosexuality Wrong” but how the scriptures of the Bible inform and lead our lives. There are some people who believe homosexuality is wrong and there is no room for interpretation or cultural circumstances. If this were true, then those same people who believe that homosexuality is wrong must also believe that eating pork is wrong, and women in the church is wrong, and that women who do no walk behind there spouse are wrong. You cannot just pick one part of the Bible to stand by totally and not the others. There for you must take into account the circumstances in which the passage was written and you must take the entire passage and Bible into account, not just a couple of verses that justify your outlook on the situation. I am not a homosexual, but I do not believe that the lifestyle is a sin. My outlook does not come from the Bible, but rather my morals and ethics. It is much easier to back the side of homosexuality being wrong using the Bible than to support it being okay. If you feel it is not a sin then you must have faith that God loves all people and so should we, no matter your sexual orientation. John 3:16; God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him may not die but have eternal life. God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him avoids condemnation, but whoever does not believe is already condemned for not believing in the name of God’s only Son. There are many people who will try to condemn homosexuals for their sins, but God loves us and we will all have our time in front of him to confess our sins and be judged. I am sure God did not intend his word to divide us and create hate. We should all remember the two great commandments as stated by Christ: Mark 12:30-31; You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these. If you consider taking the side that homosexuality is wrong and hate those who follow the lifestyle, then you must also agree that you too are a sinner and will be condemned by God. Bibliography:
