Hewill ask man to do it in small steps. For example, God asked small things of a man namedRees Howells. First God asked him to fast one meal in the afternoon, but he did not obeyfor the pressure of his mother and his flesh was too great so he ate but felt so guilty andasked God what he could do to make up for his disobedience. God told him to keep his hands raised for the period in which God had asked him to pray, this was further help himto die to his flesh.168In all of these examples man can see that it is very possible to be in the place ofagony in the intercession and maybe live through it or have the privilege of being a martyrand seeing thousands or maybe only one saved, either way would be worth the cost ofshowing Jesus’ love to a dying world. The third and last step to intercession is that of authority. Authority is the powerto command or influence resulting from knowledge, prestige, etc..17 Jesus showed us thisafter He took the form of a man, suffered for us, then rose again. In this He was given theauthority over death. While on the cross He took the authority of taking on man’s sin and makingatonement for it. Before Jesus did this man’s sin was only covered over till Jesus came bysome means of sacrifice by an animal, but after Jesus died He gave man the right to ask forforgiveness of his sin. Jesus also took the authority over death and hell by going down tohell and taking the keys to death and Hades as it says in Revelation 1:18.19He then became seated at the right hand to the Father where he rules and reignsand still intercedes on man’s behalf. Through all of this Jesus has also given manauthority. As man intercede he will gain that authority that Jesus has paid for him to have. The authority to resist to the devil and make him flee as written in James 4:7,20 and speakto the demons and the principalities and powers of the air and they will scatter.Jesus does not want man to be defeated that ...
