A Hindu Utopia

e soul evolves and learns the truth to existence. Once a soul becomes fully aware of its own oneness with Brahma, it becomes liberated from the cycle of reincarnation. This liberation is called Moksha. A liberated soul realizes they are, always have been, and always will be God; all other notions of separateness are an illusion. Karma can be described as the deeds one has performed in this life and their past lives. Karma is the driving force that causes us to be reborn. Those who have positive karma, obtained by performing ones dharma and loving all beings, will be reborn into a higher class, in which they will have a better opportunity to gain Moksha. Those who do not perform their duties well, will be born into a lower class where liberation is much more difficult to obtain.With an understanding of karma and reincarnation, it becomes clear why an individual in a lower class would not protest his place in society. It is obvious to a Hindu that his/her own deeds and past karma is the reason for their current position in society and life. One cannot change his/her past but can surely perform the current duties, of his/her Varna, to the best of their ability. All individuals can try to lead a loving, non-violent way of life, in hope of obtaining a better incarnation in the next life, where liberation is possible.As stated in the introduction, utopias develop surrounding a common set of ideals. When taking the Hindu caste system into consideration, it clearly meets this criteria; centered on the ideal that all will eventually gain liberation from the cycle of reincarnation. It is apparent how this system of beliefs evolved into a systematic way of life. Each member of the Hindu society is not only doing what is best for themselves while performing their duties, by creating good karma, the individuals effort are also helping to advance the benefits gained by the entire community. The Hindu caste system is a picturesque example of a utopia....
