hese limits were given to Patroklos just to save Achilles ego in the eyes of the Trojans and Greeks alike, then he is perhaps one of the most arrogant, self-serving men that has ever lived, in myth or real life. However, if Achilles was only trying to keep his friend safe, then it is an entirely different story. He could then be considered a true, honorable friend. I cannot help but notice though, throughout the story, how selfish and egotistical Achilles has been. I have to lean towards the conclusion that Achilles only goal in sending Patroklos into the fighting is to sacrifice his friend to the Trojans to give him a more honorable way to reenter the war than simply reconciling with Agamemnon....
