rick Usher.Maybe conveying this message was not a completely selfless act of Poes. The story may have only expressed a realization of his own and was made to further his acceptance of such an idea. Edgar Allan Poe was certainly not the most social man and was quite the introvert. Maybe he saw his own demise and developed a character, an artist, modeled after himself. In any case, Poe did express that if one disconnected himself from the outside world, his collapse would be inevitable....
