You should right-click this icon, which leads to the “Properties” menu. In the “Properties” menu, click the tab labeled “Options.” Under the section labeled “Connection Control,” check to see if the box next to the statement “Bring up terminal window after dialing,” is checked. “Bring up terminal window before dialing “ should not be checked. The “OK” button should then be selected, twice. This closes out the NetLink window. At the annex, or prompt, enter “PPP” and press return. You have a choice of then pressing the F7 button or ESC buttons to close the terminal window and continue the attempt at connecting. At this time, Windows ’98 will negotiate information with the terminal server. After all data has been verified, the “Connected to NetLink” window will appear on the monitor. The computer is finally connected to the Internet. The computer is now able to make a connection. At anytime, when a connection is needed, go to Dial-Up Networking and click the NetLink icon. This will take you to the “Connect” window. You should then enter your user name and password, which will be verified by the server. After establishing a connection with the NetLink web server or server of choice, it is now permissible to start an email account.
